GVFB calls for nominations in first Danny Welsh Volunteer of the Year Award

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB) is seeking nominations in the first ever Danny Welsh Volunteer of the Year Award. The award will be presented to one volunteer who has shown dedication and commitment above and beyond the call of action to the GVFB throughout the year.

The award is named after one of GVFB’s longest serving volunteers, Danny Welsh.

In 2016, Danny was awarded the National Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, which was presented to him by the Governor General’s office. Danny has put in more hours than any full-time staff person and has been volunteering for the food bank for three decades.

The recipient of the award will be announced at a major food bank event on September 21, 2017.
