For Immediate Release
Vancouver, B.C.– The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is announcing the return of CANstruction, an annual fundraising and food raising activity, set to take place November 3rdto 11th2018 at Lougheed Town Centre.
The event features teams from across the Lower Mainland competing in the design and building of fun, large structures made entirely out of nutritious canned foods. Each team has 12 hours to build their structure on build day, and then structures are on display as art exhibits for one week, where the public can vote for their favourite structure. 100% of the proceeds of CANstruction Vancouver go towards the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, in support of the 27,000 members that the GVFB serves weekly. Since its beginning in 2002, CANstruction Vancouver has raised more than 1.3 Million cans of food for the GVFB.
Cynthia Kinsella, Chief Development Officer of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, says: “After taking a year off, we are excited to announce the return of CANstruction Vancouver to our city, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank is grateful for the partnership and support we are receiving from SHAPE Properties and Lougheed Town Centre to make this event a success. We can’t wait to see the fun, creative structures that all the teams come up with this year.”
Calling on Teams to Participate!
CANstruction Vancouver is a challenging and fun team-building activity, with all teams focused towards a terrific cause. The event requires planning, building and lots of teamwork, and the payoff is a fantastic awards ceremony, the ACANemy Awards, where teams celebrate their achievements, celebrate their contributions to the GVFB, and meet their fellow competitors.
The deadline for local teams to sign up is July 31st2018. Those interested in sponsoring the event are asked to contact [email protected].
