The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society provides assistance to help address the immediate needs of the community, however the GVFBS also recognizes that emergency food as a standalone is not a long-term solution. As such, the GVFBS also runs several skill and capacity building programs that are focused on investing in, and giving back to the community.
Additionally, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society supplies support to over 100 meal-providing agencies throughout the community. By partnering with these agencies, the GVFBS helps care for the community while also assisting organizations in building healthy communities. Examples of these agencies include youth and women’s shelters, community kitchens, mental health agencies, and children’s programs.
